Welcome to Getting Started with Habits of Mind
There are many features common to all the learning courses. Please make yourself familiar with these features. Spending a few moments on this page will help ensure you get the most out of this Online Learning Module.
Video: Many of the pages contain embedded video. To play this video simply click on the play arrow. By placing you're mouse over the video as it plays you will see controls to pause, rewind and play the video. You can also maximize the video to play full screen.
Post-it notes: Post-it notes appear on the right hand side of most pages. These notes mark places of special interest, important additional information or additional resources. Clicking on the note will open a new window.
Virtual Classroom: From any lesson in any course, you can go to the Virtual Classroom. This is a place where you can ask questions, discuss points of interest with other teachers, or raise issues. Click on the Virtual Classroom Post-it note on this page for more detail.
Navigation:Each Course is divided into topics. The topics are presented sequentially. At the bottom of each page you'll find a navigation bar. Clicking on "next" will take you to the next page in the topic. "previous" will take you back a page. At any time you can bring up a full index by clicking on the "index" button in the top navigation bar. This allows you to jump to any part of the unit.
Levels of Access: In its default form this course is designed to help teachers become familiar with the Habits of Mind. However, you can also purchase access as a professional developer. This will give you extra pages, resources and post-its that focus on how to transform this information into presentations and professional learning activities for staff at your school.
